In 2023, 35-year-old Belarusian journalist Anufryienka suddenly died in Prague. A former colleague says he might have been poisoned
In 2023, Oleg Anufryienka, a Belarusian producer of TV news editions and chief editor of information programs for "Current Time", suddenly died. At the time, it was reported that the cause was a "severe and unexpected illness". Oleg's former colleague, Russian journalist Farida Kurbangaleeva, suggests that the man might have been poisoned.

As recalled by Farida Kurbangaleeva, former host of the "Vesti" program on the "Rossiya-1" TV channel, in an interview with Lyubov Sobol's YouTube channel, she and Oleg knew each other from working together in Prague at the "Current Time" channel (a "Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty" project). For a year and a half, they communicated daily on work matters, and their desks were next to each other.
"He was often my chief editor, sending me on air. (...) He was a young man without any serious illnesses."
According to Kurbangaleeva, after she left the channel, they stopped communicating. In the autumn of 2023, several people immediately informed her about what had happened to Oleg.
"He began to complain that his skin was burning, some inexplicable itching on his hands, and other parts of his body. He wanted to see a doctor. But his condition was so severe — apparently, these symptoms were unbearable — that he couldn't stand it and called an ambulance,"
— the journalist relays her colleagues' words.
According to Farida, after hospitalization, Anufryienka was put into an induced coma, in which he remained for a couple of weeks until his death.
The journalist claims that Oleg "was tested for all possible diseases — viral, infectious, autoimmune, whatever — and nothing was found". A version of poisoning was also considered in parallel.
"I know that specialists in chemical protection suits came to 'Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty' and took some samples from his workplace, some swabs, they examined his computer he was sitting at, and his desk," — shares the former colleague.
В нашем большом разговоре про отравления оппозиции Фарида Курбангалеева поделилась странной историей, про которую я лично ничего не знала раньше. Думаю, и вы могли про нее не слышать, широко это не обсуждалось. А зря.

According to her, the results of these expert examinations remain a mystery to this day.
Oleg Anufryienka was expelled from the BSU Faculty of Journalism at the end of 2010 for appearing in the campaign video "Hide Grandma's Passport". At that time, he worked at Belteleradiocompany on the "LAD" channel. Later he worked at Tut.by. Over time, he moved to the Czech Republic and worked for the "Current Time" channel.
