In Grodno, Biological Paternity Was Established Through an Uncle
A resident of Grodno requested to determine the biological kinship of her two sons with a deceased man.

The parents were not officially married, and the help of forensic experts was required to process a survivor's pension for her minor children and resolve inheritance issues.
Biological materials of the presumed father for examination were unavailable. However, this fact does not rule out the possibility of conducting a genetic examination of biological kinship along the male genetic line.
“If the child is genetically male, then determining kinship through the grandmother is not possible, as the boy inherits the Y-chromosome from the biological father, by examining which it is possible to establish kinship between relatives on the male line,” notes Sergey Aranovich, Head of the Department of Laboratory Research of Biological Evidence.
Forensic experts collected biological samples from the applicant's two sons and the presumed father's paternal uncle.
The results of the genetic examination confirmed the fact of biological kinship along the male genetic line. Now the woman can apply to court, reports the State Committee of Forensic Examinations.
