The man robbed an apartment in the coastal city of Ostia near Rome. He stole money, bank cards, and the owners' personal belongings. Afterwards, the Belarusian tried to leave the crime scene on someone else's electric scooter but was noticed by the owner. After the woman screamed, the man abandoned the scooter and fled on foot.
Afterwards, he decided to buy Gratta e Vinci lottery tickets, paying with the stolen cards. The apartment owner, however, immediately received notifications of the transactions in her banking app and reported it to emergency services.
Police quickly determined the location of the transactions and arrested the suspect near a ticket vending machine next to a tobacco shop. During a search, they found the owner's wallet, the remaining money, bank cards, and some other stolen items — a tablet and wireless headphones, hidden in a jacket under a bush.
Thanks to geolocation, Italian law enforcement officers were able to quickly find the remaining items stolen from the apartment.
