Residents of Kletsk faced serious water supply problems due to a series of accidents on water supply networks. Overnight, the city was completely left without water, writes "Minskaya Prauda".

As explained by Igor Davydok, Deputy Chairman of the Kletsk District Executive Committee, the first problems arose on Sunday. Then there was a pipeline rupture in the agricultural town of Yanavichy, which is part of a single water supply system with Kletsk. This immediately increased the load on the city networks. On Monday, the situation became even more complicated — an emergency rupture occurred on Sovetskaya Street in Kletsk.
Two accidents led to a sharp drop in the water level in the storage tanks of the Kletsk section of "Salihorskavodokanal". Water from the wells in the Starina tract did not manage to replenish the reserves, and the tanks effectively emptied. During the day, when most people were at work and water consumption decreased, the level was partially restored.
However, in the evening, the situation became critical again: water consumption sharply increased, and the pumping equipment could not provide the required volume due to the formation of airlocks in the system. According to Igor Davydok, the city lacked about a thousand cubic meters of water to meet the needs of the population.
By morning, the water supply was restored. But already on the evening of the same day, another rupture occurred — this time on Peramohi Street, and Kletsk was again left without water.
Emergency services are working promptly on site and promise to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
One of the main causes of the accidents was adverse weather conditions: sharp temperature fluctuations significantly increase the load on pipes and accelerate their destruction. In addition, the natural wear and tear of the metal also played a role — the pipes in this section were laid back in 1974, and over decades, the impact of the soil led to their significant weakening.
Previously, a similar situation occurred in Minsk, but there, on January 19, a heating main was damaged, resulting in the loss of hot water. The elimination of this accident dragged on for several days; heating and hot water supply were fully restored only by January 22.
Also, during these days, accidents on heat mains and heating networks were noted in Gomel, Borisov, Smalyavichy, Vitebsk.
