The only one in the region. Parents in Gomel named their son after a rare character from a cult gangster series
In the family of Tatsiana and Aliaksei Barkhalenkov, their firstborn with a very rare name — Kosmas — is growing up. He became the only child with this name in the entire Gomel region.
— It all started with a family viewing of the series. Kosmas was the name of one of the main characters. The name immediately appealed to us, but we were still deliberating. In the maternity ward, our son was diagnosed with congenital pneumonia and urgently sent to the regional children's hospital. Amidst all this, we remembered about the name when we needed to register the child somehow. In our heads, there were no options other than Kosmas, that's how the name became official, — Tatsiana told "SB".
Friends and relatives react differently to the unusual choice, while the spouses affectionately call their son Kosmanautsik (Little Cosmonaut).
— When I made a cake for my son's first birthday, I decorated it with an astronaut and a planet made of mastic. And there's no need to rack our brains for gifts for future holidays. When he grows up, we'll give him a telescope, — Tatsiana smiles.
Tatsiana and Aliaksei were worried that the church might react negatively to the special name. But their fears were unfounded — little Kosmas was baptized as Kasma.
— We think that a rare name will be a bonus in his life. Such a child will not go unnoticed. And his character will develop accordingly: kind, sensitive, active, striving for great goals. Everyone around is charmed when they meet our son. Many don't believe it at first, so we often introduce him immediately with his patronymic — Kosmas Aliakseevich.
Kosmos is one of the main characters in the cult Russian series "Brigada", played by Dmitry Dyuzhev. According to the script, Kosmos is also not a nickname, but a real name: his father, a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, gave his son a rare Greek name, believing that he would be able to achieve a lot in life. Kosmos became one of the creators of the criminal group.
