The funeral of the 27-year-old Belarusian volunteer in Ukraine, Aliaksei Lazarau, whose death became known on January 21, was noted on his Facebook page by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi. He also published several photos from the farewell ceremony in the city center.

"Aliaksei Lazarau was born in Minsk, but found his home in Lviv. Due to his convictions, he left Belarus and from the first days of the full-scale war, he stood up to defend Ukraine.
He defended Kyiv, fought in the south and east, served in the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, and then — in the 225th separate assault battalion.
Aliaksei fought not for a passport, but for freedom and the values he believed in," wrote Andriy Sadovyi.

Aliaksei Lazarau was a software engineer, a graduate of BSU. In 2019, he ran for deputy and participated in civic initiatives, and after the 2020 protests, he was forced to leave Belarus.
With the start of the full-scale war, he went to the front in Ukraine, first to the Belarusian company, from which the Kalinoŭski Regiment grew, later he served in the 225th assault regiment, working with drones. He participated in the defense of Kyiv and battles in the east and south of the country.
Aliaksei died on January 19 at the age of 27.
