On January 21, news broke that Belarusian volunteer Aliaksei Lazarau had died. «Nasha Niva» tells the story of the young warrior.

Aliaksei was a software engineer. He graduated from BSU, and in late 2019, he was conscripted into the Belarusian army. In 2019, Lazarau ran for deputy in the Kalinouski district, and was one of the organizers of the «Study is More Important» campaign against the law that reduced military deferments for students.
The guy actively participated in the 2020 protests, helped observers at polling stations, and left the country due to the threat of arrest. Initially, he was in Georgia, and later moved to Ukraine.
Aliaksei joined the front at the beginning of the full-scale war, when the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment did not yet exist. He joined the Belarusian company of the «Azov» territorial defense, from which the Kalinoŭski Regiment later grew. Soon after him, Veranika Janovich, Aliaksei's girlfriend at the time, joined the company. In March 2022, they got married.

In 2022, Aliaksei worked with portable anti-aircraft missile systems, later he was appointed crew commander. When a scandal erupted that year around the then headquarters of the regiment, Aliaksei was among the warriors who decided to leave. He wrote that he didn't like that the Regiment started engaging in politics on behalf of the warriors, and he, as a warrior, couldn't influence the decisions of the headquarters.
However, in 2025, Lazarau returned to the front. He joined the Ukrainian 225th Separate Assault Regiment, where he worked with drones.
The guy (Aliaksei took the call sign «Vuzh» — «Grass Snake») participated in the defense of Kyiv, in the liberation of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, and in battles in the Luhansk and Donetsk directions.

Alexey died on January 19, he was 27 years old. The young man will be buried in Lviv.
