Minsk pensioner paid ransom for "Arab millionaire". He scammed her twice
A 74-year-old resident of the Pervomaisky district of the capital became a victim of multi-episode fraud, believing in the love and kidnapping of a foreign rich man. The story began five months ago when a "millionaire from the Emirates" promised the woman a valuable parcel.

Earlier, the 74-year-old pensioner had already contacted the Pervomaisky District Department of Internal Affairs in Minsk. The virtual millionaire from the United Arab Emirates allegedly sent a parcel with a gift; to receive it, the woman paid 7000 rubles for delivery.
After that, he stopped contacting her. The woman then went to the police.
Five months later, the man wrote again.
He said that he had come to Belarus and would personally sort out why the gift had not been delivered, and would return the money spent. However, communication with him soon ceased again.
Later, unknown individuals contacted the Minsk resident, informing her that her acquaintance had been kidnapped, and demanded a ransom – 5000 rubles. Frightened for the fate of her beloved, the pensioner transferred the money to the specified account.
Only a few days later did the Minsk resident realize that she had again fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme, and repeatedly contacted the police.
A criminal case has been initiated.
