Poland significantly increases spending on financing special services

Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Minister — Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak held a joint press conference, where, among other things, they discussed a significant increase in funding for the work of Polish special services compared to previous times.

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that in 2026, the expenses of the Military Intelligence Service could reach 463 million zlotys (about 121.6 million dollars), which is almost twice as much as in 2022. A similar situation is observed in the Military Counterintelligence Service — its budget grew from 362 million zlotys in 2022 to 779 million (about 217.3 million dollars) in 2026. In 2025, new inspectorates and branches of this service were created in various cities.

The minister also announced that in 2026, the Internal Security Agency and the Intelligence Agency will have record budgets (compared to 2022, an increase of 63% and 68% respectively), while military services responsible for national security will receive 72% more funds. As Tomasz Siemoniak emphasized, this indicates the government's recognition of the importance of special services working on the front line of defense.

Additionally, he reminded that back in 2024, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reinstated 10 departments of the Internal Security Agency, which had been abolished in 2017, to better counter threats across the country.
