Trump explained his request by extreme frosts: temperatures of up to -25°C are forecast in Kyiv next week.

«I personally asked President Putin not to shell Kyiv and other cities for a week due to a strong cold wave in Ukraine. He agreed. And, I must tell you, it was very pleasant,» Trump told reporters.

Trump did not say whether he promised Russia anything in return.

Earlier, Russian military correspondents reported that the top command of the Russian Federation allegedly gave an order to prohibit strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and any targets in Kyiv and the region. The moratorium allegedly lasts until February 3 and is linked to another round of negotiations in Abu Dhabi on February 1.

At this time, in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine, mass power outages continue due to Russian shelling. The country's energy system is in its most severe state in recent years. The most difficult situation is in Kyiv, Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions: in Kyiv, 700 homes remain without heating, in Kryvyi Rih — 234. To restore heating in Kyiv, over 1000 utility workers are involved.
