AfD MP arrested in Germany; prisoners worked on his fields near Lida
Jörg Dornau, a member of the 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD) party, was arrested today during a session of the local parliament in Saxony. Police escorted him to a separate room for questioning. His office in the Landtag was searched, Bild reports.

Such a start to a Landtag session has never happened before, the publication writes! In the Saxon Landtag, police officers arrested 56-year-old AfD MP Jörg Dornau. According to BILD, investigators took the politician to a separate room for questioning. Simultaneously, his residential and commercial premises, as well as vehicles near Leipzig, were searched.
The politician, long known for his close ties with the Lukashenka regime, was led out of the session hall immediately after his colleagues stripped him of his parliamentary immunity. He is accused of circumventing sanctions, and information about the use of political prisoners' labor on Belarusian fields casts a shadow on his reputation.
The essence of the Leipzig prosecutor's office's accusations lies in violating the law on foreign economic activity. According to the investigation, in 2022, Dornau attempted to circumvent the ban on supplying equipment to Belarus. He formalized documents for the export of a telescopic loader to Kazakhstan, but in reality, the machine went to Belarus.
Dornau is an odious figure in Saxony due to his business 'Tsybulka-Bel'. This is a huge 1000-hectare farm in Belarus where onions are grown. Previously, the reform.news portal reported that Belarusian political prisoners, sent from local detention centers, might have worked on the German MP's fields. The politician himself did not comment on these allegations, not even to his fellow party members.
