"For the oppression of the Belarusian people and for stealing the future from Belarusians." Ukraine's Foreign Ministry calls on partners to increase pressure on Lukashenka
Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha appealed to international partners to increase pressure so that Aliaksandr Lukashenka's regime feels an adequate response for crimes against the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples. This is stated in the Foreign Ministry's announcement.

As Sybiha explained, today's sanctions against Lukashenka and his regime are an appropriate, necessary, and adequate response to the hybrid and security threats he poses to Ukraine and the rest of Europe.
The Minister reminded that the Minsk regime is an accomplice to Russia's crime of aggression against Ukraine, as Lukashenka "provided Belarusian territory for the attack and continues to assist Moscow in its genocidal war against Ukraine — with resources, components, materials, sanctions circumvention, and even a system of relay stations for controlling attack drones."
"We call on partners to follow our example and ensure that Lukashenka feels adequate pressure for his crimes alongside Putin, for his oppression of the Belarusian people, and for stealing opportunities and the future from generations of Belarusians," Sybiha emphasized.
According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine believes in the European future of the Belarusian people after they are freed from Lukashenka's oppression.
"In the future, we will be ready to welcome a democratic Belarus into the Lublin Triangle format together with Poland and Lithuania. Belarus belongs to Europe, not the 'Russian world'," Sybiha added.
On February 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the application of sanctions against Belarusian Lukashenka.
