A Belarusian compared the price of domestic apples and Chinese pomelos. The difference was surprising
A Belarusian noticed a difference in prices for Belarusian and imported products. While visiting "Belmarket", the man compared the cost of Belarusian apples and Chinese pomelos: the difference turned out not to be in favor of the former. The Belarusian shared his observations on TikTok, as noted by BGMedia publication.

"New record: Chinese pomelo, Belarusian apple. However!" — the man notes in his video.
Here's how he comments on the situation:
"Prices are starting to surprise. It feels as if the pomelo came to Belarus by itself and just lay down on the shelf. And the apple was brought from Nigeria with twenty intermediaries. Strange are your ways, market of Belarus."
As it follows from the video itself, the price for "Aidared" apples is 4.45 rubles per kilogram, and for pomelo it's 3.99 rubles (it is sold with a 27% discount).

In Belarus, the retail price for apples, according to the standards of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, established at the end of 2025, is 4.80 Belarusian rubles. At "Belmarket", the price, it seems, is even slightly lower than this standard.
However, Belarusians note a significant increase in prices for domestic apples. In comments under the videos, they mentioned last year's crop failure and compared the situation with Poland, where apples are cheaper.
Some users noted that there are generally few domestic apples this year:
"Everything froze for me, except for hidden grapes. There was one sweet cherry, one sour cherry, three pears, and a couple of crooked apples."
For comparison, last year apples cost about two rubles per kilogram.
According to Belstat, in 2025, inflation was 6.8%, and in December compared to November, consumer prices rose by 0.3%, which also affected the cost of domestic products, including apples.
