Luxury Italian brand Miu Miu released a collection compared to bathrobes from TSUM
"Now all stocks of such stale bathrobes in Belarusian GUM and TSUM will be bought out."

The Italian luxury brand Miu Miu presented its new Spring-Summer 2026 collection back in October. But now it has captured the attention of Belarusian fashionistas.
The creators of the collection aimed to draw attention to the importance of women's work. Designer Miuccia Prada presented her reflections on the challenges women face in their careers, overcoming difficulties, and the invisibility of women's labor.
The apron became the central element of the collection. According to the authors' concept, this item of clothing can be both utilitarian and decorative, and its cultural meanings radically change depending on the form and materials.
Miuccia Prada was inspired by archival photographs of famous documentary photographers of the last century — Dorothea Lange (1895-1965) and Helga Paris (1938-2024).

"In the looks, materials usually considered incompatible coexist: rough work tweed, heavy leather, and unprocessed canvas are combined with delicate lace, silk cloqué (a type of embossed material. — **NN**) and refined poplin.
Shoes and bags made of durable leather embody the idea of "industrial beauty," where practicality becomes aesthetics. Even ruffles — a traditional sign of femininity — acquire a new role here: they become a tool of transformation, creating a delicate balance between harshness and tenderness,"
the brand explains the embedded meanings.
However, while the philosophy of working days is being rethought on world catwalks, Belarusian and other women from CIS countries saw something overly familiar in high fashion. For many, Miuccia Prada's "intellectual manifesto" turned out to be a copy of the assortment in the corresponding department of a department store.
"MIU MIU summer 2026 show — that's my classmates and I going to show the boys what we sewed from cotton in 5th grade..." — noted one Threads user.
Others agree: "Oh, indeed, the "apron" product."
Many are shocked that the collection photos are real, not created by artificial intelligence:
"My God, I even went to the MIU MIU website to check that it wasn't AI. And it's not AI."
"It feels like when the gurus of world fashion can't find inspiration, they start flipping through Soviet magazines like "Rabotnitsa" (Working Woman), "Selyanka" (Peasant Woman)..." — women share their impressions.
Others jokingly predict a rush in metropolitan department stores:
"Now all stocks of such stale bathrobes in Belarusian GUM and TSUM will be bought out."
Old Soviet jokes are also recalled:
— Do you have cheerful chintz?
— Come, you'll laugh your head off.
Many joke that finally old grandmother's things can be presented as the latest fashion:
"Take out grandma's aprons — and be the most fashionable. And ask if she doesn't have any small curlers for a hairstyle lying around."
"So the bathrobe from grandma's chest came in handy."
"I have a couple of those in my closet. Finally, they've waited for their time!"
Someone sees a subtext in this:
"Looks like a mockery of USSR countries."
"Now polyester is for the poor, and cotton is for the rich," — summarizes one of the women.
