Skier Lindsey Vonn, who fell at the very beginning of the track at the Olympic Games in Italy last Saturday, is awaiting another — her fourth — leg operation today. After this, the athlete hopes, she will be able to return to the USA, where at least one more operation awaits her, writes the BBC.

"These have been pretty tough days in the hospital. But I finally feel more like myself. A long road ahead," Lindsey Vonn said in a message to fans on Instagram on Friday, February 13.
"Tomorrow I have another operation, and if all goes well, I hope I can be discharged and go home, where another operation awaits me. I don't know yet what all this means, we are waiting for better images, but that's the situation," Vonn added.
The 41-year-old skier was hospitalized in Treviso, northern Italy, after a fall at the very beginning of the downhill track on the second day of the Olympics. She was diagnosed with a complex fracture of the tibia (shin bone).
On Wednesday, February 11, Vonn announced on Instagram about her successfully completed third operation. "Success looks completely different today than it did a few days ago," she noted.

In her messages, the skier thanked the medical staff, friends, family, and everyone who sent her flowers, letters, and soft toys (including a plush shark).
In response, the chief orthopedic surgeon at Treviso Hospital, Stefano Zanarella, in an interview with the local newspaper Corriere del Veneto called Vonn an "exemplary patient."
