According to Trump, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait will jointly contribute over $7 billion for the Gaza aid package.
Indonesia, Morocco, Albania, Kosovo, and Kazakhstan will send military personnel and police to stabilize the situation. In addition, Egypt and Jordan will support Palestinian law enforcement.
The US, in turn, will allocate $10 billion to the Peace Council. Trump stated that the Peace Council would partially "oversee" the activities of the UN, although he has not yet revealed the exact mechanisms for this. He emphasized that the main goal is to ensure financial support and effectiveness for the UN.
Most of the countries invited by Trump to the Council refused to participate. The agreement on the creation of the Council under the leadership of the US President was signed on January 22 in Davos (Switzerland). According to the plan, the Council should first focus on peace and reconstruction in Gaza, and then play a broader role in resolving global conflicts.
The Council predominantly consists of countries from the Middle East and South America: the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Argentina, and Paraguay. From the EU side, the Prime Ministers of Hungary and Bulgaria participated in the signing ceremony. There were also representatives from four non-EU European countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kosovo.
It is assumed that Trump will retain a leading role in the Council even after the expiration of his presidential powers.
