In Slutsk, Former Employees of the "Emalposud" Plant are Sought to Revive Cast Iron Pot Casting Technology
The company "Nanosplav" from Lyakhovichi is looking for foundry masters in Slutsk who once worked at the "Emalposud" plant and knew the technology for producing cast iron pots without defects, writes SlutskGorod.

The enterprise faced technological difficulties in casting cast iron cookware — the defect rate turned out to be too high.
At the same time, in Lyakhovichi they know: the Slutsk enterprise successfully solved this problem.
«We use foam polystyrene molding technology, but it's not quite suitable for cast iron pots,» explains Svetlana Makarova, a representative of Nanosplav. «But at the plant in Slutsk, they used chill casting — pouring molten metal into reusable molds. This is a completely different process.»
Chill (from the French «coquille» - shell/mold) — is a reusable metal mold for casting, usually cast iron or steel. It was precisely such molds that were used at "Emalposud" for the production of cast iron cookware.
After the closure of the Slutsk plant in 2016, most of the equipment was transferred to the Babruisk enterprise "Legmash". Later, the plant's territory was sold at auction. They continued to produce frying pans there, but abandoned the production of cast iron pots due to the complexity of the process. The chills for these products were melted down as they were no longer needed.

However, at "Legmash" they shared an interesting detail: apparently, a married couple of foundry workers worked at the Slutsk plant, who were the only ones who managed to cast pots almost without defects. «It's like a legend,» say those at "Nanosplav". «Perhaps it really was a specific couple, or perhaps simply experienced technologists.»
The Lyakhovichi enterprise is ready to invite former "Emalposud" employees as consultants — on a paid one-time basis or for permanent employment.
Specialists are needed primarily at the stage of chill production and fine-tuning the pouring process.

«We are currently working with a supplier on creating molds, but without the knowledge of people who actually engaged in this production, it is difficult to avoid mistakes,» the enterprise admits. «We are ready to discuss cooperation terms, organize a meeting in Slutsk, and discuss work details with specialists.»
The distance from Slutsk to Lyakhovichi is about 100 kilometers. The company is considering advisory assistance from specialists at key production stages.
