A criminal group involved in stealing premium-class cars in the provinces of Alicante and Valencia, their subsequent illegal legalization, and sale abroad has been stopped in Spain. This was reported by radio Cadena Ser, citing law enforcement agencies, writes the website "Belarus and the World".
The investigation began in October 2025 after a car with forged license plates was found in the town of Campello. This ultimately led to the identification of four Belarusian citizens, aged between 40 and 50, living in Benidorm and Llíria.
The group operated according to a well-thought-out plan and using technology. The criminals selected vehicles, placed GPS trackers to monitor their movements, and then, using frequency jammers and sophisticated electronic systems, opened them without arousing suspicion.
After being stolen, the cars were left parked for weeks in secluded locations. Only then were they driven to their final destinations, where VIN numbers were changed, fake identification stickers were applied, and false documents from other European countries were obtained, preparing them for export.
During the police operation, law enforcement officers raided an apartment in Benidorm, a warehouse in Finestrat, and a country house in Llíria, where the final "refinement" of the vehicles was carried out.
Four Belarusians were detained. In addition, eight stolen cars were found, and a large amount of specialized equipment that could have been used to commit the thefts was confiscated.
The detainees, previously convicted for similar actions, are suspected of aggravated theft, document forgery, and belonging to a criminal organization. They will remain in custody pending trial. The investigation continues.
