An apartment building exploded in occupied Sevastopol. Explosives were stored in it
At midnight from March 23 to 24, an explosion occurred in an apartment belonging to the large Rodikov family on Korchagin Street in Sevastopol. Present were 50-year-old Olga Rodikova, a singer at a temple affiliated with Sevastopol University, her 52-year-old husband Sergey Rodikov, and their six children, writes Astra.
During the investigation, it was found that the epicenter of the explosion was on the balcony of the first-floor apartment. As a result of the incident, the apartment owner and her 20-year-old son died, while four daughters, aged 23, 18, 14, and 12, sustained various injuries and are hospitalized. The apartment owner, Sergey Rodikov, was unharmed.
In total, 12 people were injured in the explosion. The fire spread to an adjacent building, where two more entrances burned down.
The local Investigative Committee noted that the gas equipment in the apartment was not damaged after the explosion, and there were no signs of external impact on the building. More than 20 people were interviewed as victims and witnesses.
At the same time, the Investigative Committee reported that the investigation is being conducted under articles 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence") and 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal acquisition and storage of an unspecified explosive device"). From this, it can be assumed that the cause of the incident was precisely the detonation of explosives. Who brought it there and for what purpose is still unknown.
According to information from open sources, the apartment owner, Sergey Rodikov, worked as a grinder, seller, and furniture assembler; his last place of work was the Sevastopol company "STL Pride," which manufactures furniture for restaurants and hotels.
His deceased son, Vasily, worked as a loader but was fired in 2023 for absenteeism. What he did after that is unknown.
