Remember the elderly activist who foolishly starred in a BT propaganda film? In Poland, he also got himself into espionage.
One of the three Belarusian spies detained in Poland turned out to be Vladimir Usser (Lazarev), an activist from Babruysk who had been living in Bialystok recently and had already found himself in an unpleasant situation not long ago, twice filming scenes for the propaganda film «Alien Sky» from BT.

Vladimir Usser's neighbor, with whom he shared a rented apartment, told Nasha Niva the details of the activist's arrest.
According to Polish prosecution data, three Belarusians and two Ukrainians cooperated with foreign intelligence from March 2024 to February 2025, carrying out various tasks they received via Telegram messages. Their tasks included photographing critical infrastructure and locations important for state security. In addition, they were supposed to put up posters and draw graffiti.
«Two days ago, I was sitting at the computer, it was around 9:30 AM, when there was a loud banging on the door — behind it were, as I understood, two employees of the Internal Security Agency. They and about eight other people with weapons and in bulletproof vests ran into the apartment — they grabbed me first, asked if I had any weapons or drugs. And immediately asked where Vladimir Usser was. The neighbor doesn't understand Polish at all, so I translated something for him at first, and then they gave him an interpreter, who then read out the charges.»

According to the source, their apartment was searched — including a careful examination of his equipment. Usser-Lazarev's phone and computer were taken along with him.
«As I understood, he was taken to Warsaw, and now he's in the hospital. He has health problems: diabetes, swollen legs, lymph leaking from his legs, and he also has something with his breathing.»
Due to his health condition, the court has currently chosen a preventive measure for Usser that is not related to imprisonment. However, he is prohibited from leaving Poland.
Vladimir's neighbor admitted that the man lived in unsanitary conditions: he didn't clean the room and almost never washed. And if he was forced to, he would just splash himself with water and put on the same dirty clothes.
Recently, the source continues, Vladimir constantly listened to Russian radio.
«I scolded him, tried to show him Radio Liberty, Radio Racja, but it didn't help. At some point, I just cut off his internet, but he asked to have it back. I became especially angry after he filmed footage about the difficulties of emigration for propagandists from BT for a fee.»
The neighbor says that the former activist did nothing all day except sit on the internet, smoke, and sleep.
«I don't know how he lived. Sometimes he said that a friend from America helped him. Well, and Belarusians also helped him, but those were also one-time payments. He couldn't receive a pension for a long time, because the card had expired. I kept telling him to get his act together, because he didn't have anything, and he replied to me: 'Money is not a problem.'»
Now the neighbor realizes that Vladimir could have been receiving funds for his cooperation with intelligence.
«But he lived poorly. When they took him, I looked at what food he had — some millet, a can of peas, bread, oil at the bottom, a little sugar, salt — and that's it. He ate at the expense of the neighbors. He could pour out some milk from me or something else.
At the same time, his daughter has been in Israel for a long time, and offered help after his emigration. But he didn't want to work, he wanted to freeload, so, as far as I know, the family abandoned him. I think he has something wrong with his head in general, because if he didn't draw conclusions after that story with BT, and climbed even further, then what else can you say.»
In addition to Vladimir Usser, citizens of Belarus Victoria M. and Anton M., as well as two Ukrainians, were detained on November 25 and 26. They have already been interrogated and charged. Under the articles they are charged with, they could face from 5 to 30 years in prison.
