In Moscow, a car exploded near a center that develops tools for mass surveillance of Russians
On Thursday morning, an explosion occurred in western Moscow near the building of the Main Scientific Research Computing Center of the Presidential Administration (GlavNIVTs).

GlavNIVTs creates tools for mass surveillance of Russians online, as well as services for monitoring and de-anonymizing social media users, writes 'Agency'.
Baza published a photo showing a burnt car in the distance in front of a five-story administrative building. The exploded car first started smoking, and then an explosion occurred.
It is assumed that a Mercedes ML350 car exploded, inside which no one was at the time of the explosion. A possible cause of the explosion was electrical wiring.
According to a 2019 investigation by 'Meduza', GlavNIVTs develops systems for monitoring and de-anonymizing social media users.
In particular, as the publication found out, the center sold 'Pskov' and 'Sherlock' services to insurance companies and corporate security services to verify employee integrity and study candidate data during hiring. GlavNIVTs also created the 'Poseidon' system for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which allows searching for 'extremists' on social media. The services developed by the center aggregated personal data of Russians not only from open sources, but also from leaked databases.
The center is also responsible for the development of an all-Russian facial recognition video surveillance system. With its help, security forces in Russia conduct raids on political activists, as well as on those who, for example, try to avoid conscription.
