Journalist Dzmitry Semchanka recounted how they tried to break him in the remand prison
A former journalist of Lukashenka's pool, who spent three years behind bars, told on his Facebook page how they tried to break him in Baranavichy.

«When I was in the Baranavichy pre-trial detention center, they put me on the so-called 'bicycle.' This is when you are thrown into different cells every day. It is done to break you psychologically. You have to 'enter the house' every day,» — he wrote.
You don't know who is there, and you prepare for a fight every time. By then, in Zhodzina, I had already dealt with provocateurs who had served 7 sentences each, and pedophiles, who were thrown into the cell so that later I could be intimidated with 'low status' and blackmailed into going into the so-called 'roosters.' I was lucky, because in all cases I managed to force the unwelcome guests to leave the cell. In some cases, it involved blood, because you yourself shouldn't 'break down' (give in), meaning knocking on the door and asking the guard to take you out.
So, imagine my state in Baranki (colloquial for Baranavichy), when every other day I was taken to a new cell. You've just gotten acquainted, taken a small breath, and you're thrown into the unknown again.
But there was one thing that helped me endure. It was a song that played every day on the radio in the corridor [Que vendra (What will happen next, by French performer ZAZ — Nasha Niva)].
No matter which cell they threw me into. I'm ashamed that I hadn't heard it until then, but that's why the impression was even stronger. This song had so much strength and such simple faith in the future that I told myself: «Grit your teeth and walk this path with your head held high!» And more than two years in the 'zone' (penal colony) awaited me. I didn't understand all the words, I couldn't even understand why there was a Spanish phrase in a French song, but I didn't need a translation. I listened with my heart — Qué vendrá? (What then?) It's not so important what comes next.
The main thing is for the heart to keep hearing. And these days I hear you again, my dear Belarusians and the best Belarusian women in the world!», — wrote Dzmitry Semchanka.
