Krautsov on Babaryka and Kalesnikava's first press conference: The dispute was inflated exclusively on Facebook, Losik also separately
The first press conference of the released political prisoners, featuring Viktar Babaryka and Maryia Kalesnikava, caused a stir : it seems no one who watched it remained indifferent.
Some criticized the political leaders, saying that after everything they had endured, they should not have thanked Lukashenka, and even more so, should not have demonstrated an "it's not all so clear" stance on the war in Ukraine (especially while being on its territory). Others defended the former prisoners: these people spent five years in an information blockade, give them time.
Ivan Krautsov, a member of Viktar Babaryka's team, believes that the conference went absolutely normally.
"The dispute was inflated exclusively on Facebook, Ihar Losik also separately, as well as in the media closely following Facebook. It seems to me that this is a rather artificial phenomenon: most people in Belarus didn't care at all, just like the Ukrainian audience, because no one in the Ukrainian media criticized it so much," Ivan Krautsov commented to Nasha Niva.

Krautsov notes that over five years, a rather radical view has formed in the emigrant community regarding how an opposition Belarusian politician should behave, which points to press, and which ones absolutely not to.
"All this (similar comments and reactions - NN), to be honest, doesn't bother us too much. What concerns us much more is for them to get themselves in order and decide what they will do with their lives next. That is a much more important thing - for them to find a productive future for themselves."
It should be noted that on the second day after their release, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, both Maryia Kalesnikava and Viktar Babaryka expressed their solidarity with Ukraine.
"We support you. We cannot imagine how incredibly difficult it is, when in a state of war, such a massive attack and aggression from Russia occurs, how hard it is for you to cope with this, and yet you still find the opportunity to support us," said Maryia Kalesnikava during that call.
Babaryka, in turn, told Zelenskyy: "We are all united in our assessment of this position: you are suffering, you have experienced aggression, and you are absolutely right: freedom and the lives of people who gave their lives for it are the most important. And it must prevail."
