Uladzimir Khilkevich was born in 1946 in the village of Byarozauka in the Slutsk region. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at BSU. A prose writer and publicist, he worked for the newspaper "Zvyazda".
He is the author of the novels "Camelia", "Water Bridges", "The Cuckold".
In 2018, Uladzimir Khilkevich's book "Задержаться у ворот рая" (To Linger at the Gates of Paradise) was published by the Minsk publishing house "Four Quarters". This is a literary book that encompasses various significant events that Belarus has experienced. These include Stalinist repressions, the existence and execution of the Slutsk ghetto, attempts by emigrants from Belarus to contact relatives who remained in their homeland, and many other themes.
