Estate of the 18th century near Minsk put up for sale for almost half a million dollars

Just 12 kilometers from Minsk, in the agro-town of Syomkava, an offer has appeared for the sale of an ancient estate, built at the end of the 18th century. The historical complex with an almost 250-year history is being asked for 457.3 thousand dollars. The announcement is posted on the Investment Portal of Belarus.

This refers to the manor and park ensemble built in 1780. It includes the main house and two outbuildings — all buildings are brick, single-story. The total area of the premises is about 1954 square meters. Along with the buildings, a land plot of 3.61 hectares is also for sale. The description notes that the territory is well-maintained and covered with grass.

Currently, the estate is on the balance sheet of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the Minsk District Executive Committee. After acquisition, the object can be used in the service sector.

There are no engineering communications on the territory yet. However, the documents state that there is a possibility of connecting water, gas, and electricity. It is also noted that there is no transport infrastructure directly near the object.

The history of this estate is connected with the name of Adam Khmara. After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, he swore allegiance to Empress Catherine II, which helped him preserve his possessions, including the estate in Syomkava. Over time, the estate changed several owners, and after the 1917 revolution, it was nationalized.

During the Soviet period, the estate buildings housed an orphanage. It is with this time that one of the most tragic pages of its past is connected. During the German occupation, children who could not be evacuated from here were left without adult supervision. To avoid starvation, they went to neighboring villages for food.

In February 1944, fighters of the partisan brigade "Shturmava" evacuated 274 pupils to the partisan zone. It is believed that in this way they managed to save the children's lives. In memory of these events, a memorial sign has been installed on the territory of the estate.

After the war, the building ceased to be used as an orphanage due to the lack of central heating and water supply. A new building was erected nearby, and the old estate gradually began to fall into disrepair.

Until 2010, people still lived in one of the outbuildings. Some of them remain registered there even now, despite the fact that the building has been declared unsafe and has not been in use for a long time. At the same time, experts believe that the outbuilding can be restored without excessive costs.

The condition of the main house is much worse: after losing its roof, the destruction accelerated, and as a result, the second floor was completely destroyed.
