At a joint press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, Zelenskyy announced that the US would hand over an updated 20-point peace plan to Russia. After Russia's response, the American side will hold a new round of consultations with Ukraine.
Earlier in Berlin, Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the US President's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Following the meetings, it was announced that Washington agreed to provide Ukraine with legally binding security guarantees. However, the main issue of territorial concessions remains unresolved.
Russia continues to insist on the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire Donetsk region, including areas not yet under Russian control. Ukraine considers such demands unacceptable.
Zelenskyy noted that after discussing the reactions, the American side would contact Russia, and then a meeting at the level of negotiating groups would take place in the US. He also added that he would not participate in these consultations himself. Possibly, a new round of negotiations will be held in Miami.
In addition, the President of Ukraine noted that Ukraine's membership in the European Union is an important part of security guarantees.
Ukraine expects to receive $40-45 billion in aid from Western allies in 2026 and a total of $210 billion (the approximate amount of frozen Russian assets in the EU that could be used to finance Ukraine).
At the same time, the losses caused by the war exceed $200 billion, and Europe is talking about covering them.
