Ukraine hits a tanker from the Russian shadow fleet in the Mediterranean Sea for the first time
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has for the first time carried out a special operation in the neutral waters of the Mediterranean Sea and attacked the Russian tanker QENDIL, which, according to the Ukrainian side, belongs to Russia's so-called «shadow fleet». This was reported by sources of the Ukrainian service of the BBC in the SSU.

During a «direct line» with Vladimir Putin, the presenter informed him that «our tanker» had been attacked in the Mediterranean Sea. In response, Putin stated that he did not consider the losses significant: in his opinion, this would not disrupt supplies, but only create additional risks, and Russia would certainly respond to the attacks.
According to the SSU, the operation was multi-stage and carried out by the «Alpha» unit using aerial drones. The tanker was hit at a distance of more than two thousand kilometers from the territory of Ukraine.
According to sources, the vessel was not carrying cargo and was empty at the time of the attack, so there was no danger to the region's ecology. The SSU notes that Russia used this tanker to circumvent sanctions and obtain funds that went to finance the war against Ukraine, so the vessel was considered a legitimate military target.
Sources also claim that as a result of the strike, QENDIL suffered serious damage and can no longer be used for its intended purpose.
