Minister of Finance Yury Silvestrov Appointed Ambassador to Russia
He will replace Alexander Rogozhnik, who was recently appointed to head the Vitebsk region.

Minister of Finance Yury Silvestrov was appointed ambassador to Russia today.
Alexander Lukashenka said that the Head of the Administration, Dmitry Krutoy, characterized Seliverstov as a tough, assertive person, in a good sense of the word a fidget, ready «to travel around the country, neighboring and other countries.»
«I thought: why shouldn't such a person work in Russia, where it is necessary to visit regions, work, cooperate with Russian regions, keep under control the main directions of our activity in the Russian Federation. And first of all in trade,» Lukashenka noted. «You are completely involved in these problems. You know the main issues we have in Belarusian-Russian relations. I came to the conclusion that of all the candidacies proposed, you are probably suitable for working in Russia.»
«We often say that the embassy in Russia is not just an embassy. It is a second government. Because it is our main market where we sell our products. And it is the main country that invests in us, always helps us. This is our Russia. Therefore, you can't just send anyone there. Both the level must be appropriate, and the knowledge, and the desire to work. That's why we settled on your candidacy,» Alexander Lukashenka added.
Yury Silvestrov was born in 1978 in Minsk, graduated from BSEU (2002), Academy of Public Administration (2009).
Since 2002, he worked in various positions in the Ministry of Finance, in 2012‑2015 — head of the Main Department of Budget Policy of the Ministry of Finance, in 2015‑2018 — Deputy Minister of Finance, from September 2018 — First Deputy Minister of Finance. On June 4, 2020, he was appointed Minister of Finance in Roman Golovchenko's government. He replaced Maxim Ermolovich in this position.
