Train dispatcher arrested for corruption additionally charged with "treason"
The case of Andrey Gavrilyuk, a train dispatcher for the Minsk-Node section, has taken a serious new turn. Detained in November 2025, the employee of the Transportation Control Center, in addition to previous charges of corruption and abuse of power, is now accused of treason, the Community of Belarusian Railway Workers has learned .

Andrey Gavrilyuk
According to unofficial information, the initial reason for the security forces' interest in Andrey Gavrilyuk was the dispatcher's possible involvement in large-scale tobacco smuggling. It is alleged that he may have organized unplanned stops of transit trains on the Minsk bypass to allow accomplices to secretly load cigarettes into wagons and containers destined for Poland.
After three months in the KGB pre-trial detention center, the status of the case has significantly worsened. The new charge under Article 356 of the Criminal Code is extremely severe: it concerns espionage or other assistance to a foreign state to the detriment of national security. For officials, sanctions under this article, after recent changes in legislation, provide for punishment up to the death penalty.
It should be noted that the manipulations with the train schedule initially attributed to Gavrilyuk are practically impossible to carry out unnoticed by the shift management or the entire transportation service.
