On January 18, during a raid, inspectors of the Babruysk Interdistrict Inspectorate for Wildlife and Plant Protection stopped a car with three men near the village of Zapolle. In the trunk was a polymer bag with fish: 501 pike and 467 rudd, with a total mass of 39.7 kilograms, reports Komkur publication.

The inspection showed that two of the detainees used a prohibited landing net (if the diameter of the circle is greater than 0.6 m or the mesh size is less than 10 mm), and illegally caught fish in a reclamation canal connected to the Olsa River. But even with legal gear, only 5 kg per person is allowed. Damages to nature were estimated at 43,290 rubles.
A criminal case was initiated against the individuals under Part 4 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (illegal fishing on a particularly large scale). Sanctions provide for restriction of liberty for up to 5 years or deprivation of liberty for up to 6 years with a fine.
