Overall, Belarus ranks among the top 20 by this indicator and surpasses many developed countries.

In 2025, over 18 million pure electric vehicles were sold worldwide. Their share in global sales of new passenger cars approached 20%. Interestingly, Belarus ranks among the top 20 by this indicator and surpasses many developed countries. The ranking of electric vehicles in major car markets was published by Sergey Tselikov, head of the "Avtostat" company, writes Office Life.
Norway is the undisputed leader in the share of "electric cars" in total new car sales — almost 96%! The top 5 for last year also included: Denmark — 68.5%, Iceland — 41.2%, Netherlands — 40.2%, and Malta — 37.9%.
Among the leaders by this indicator, with a share of 25-37%, are also countries such as Great Britain, Luxembourg, China, Belgium, Sweden, and Finland. At the same time, despite electric vehicles accounting for about 30% of total sales in China, the country leads in transport electrification due to the enormous size of its market.
As for Belarus, the share of pure electric vehicles in new car sales for 2025, according to BAA data, was 23%. This is more than the average for the European Union (17.4%), in the USA (8%), and on par with countries like Austria, Switzerland, and Portugal.
Moreover, by any calculation, Belarus significantly surpasses neighboring countries in this indicator. In Russia, for example, it is only 0.9%, while in Poland and the Baltic countries it is about 7%.
