A pig farm complex, which will be the largest in Belarus, is being built near Gomel
In the Gomel region, despite the frosts, the construction of the largest pig breeding complex in Belarus, designed for 100 thousand heads, continues, reports the press service of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to erect 26 farms where animals will be kept. Construction and design are proceeding in parallel. A total of eight phases of work are envisioned, five of which have already been developed and passed the necessary expert review.

Construction of the complex began in May 2025. If work proceeds according to plan, the facility is expected to be completed in December 2027. The Gomel Regional Executive Committee notes that this pig breeding complex is a pilot project for the country: modern technologies are being used in its construction, and the project is being meticulously planned down to the smallest detail.

Although the 100,000-head complex will be the largest in Belarus, there are much larger facilities in the world. For example, in China, a 26-story pig breeding complex was built in the city of Ezhou, designed to raise up to 1.2 million pigs per year.
Earlier, Alexander Lukashenka instructed to take "under strict control" the issue of insufficient volumes of pork production in the country. At the same time, in the first quarter of 2025, Belarus became one of the largest buyers of Russian pork, having purchased meat worth about 100 million dollars.
