Musk: Cities on the Moon to appear within 10 years, on Mars – in a few decades
SpaceX founder, billionaire Elon Musk, plans to begin construction of "self-sustaining" cities on the Moon and Mars in the coming decades, according to the BBC.

The lunar project has priority, according to Musk's post on X. Unlike Mars, to which flights are possible once every 26 months when it is closest to Earth, flights to the Moon can be made once every ten days and will only take two days, while a trip to Mars would take half a year, Musk believes.
He estimates that the lunar project will show its first results within ten years, and the Martian project in no less than twenty.
In turn, NASA also plans to send people to the Moon for the first time in 50 years. The goal of the "Artemis" program is to land astronauts on the Moon and eventually establish a long-term presence there. The second launch as part of this program has been postponed several times; it is expected to take place in early March 2026.
