In Polesie, they complain that this winter a lot of wolves have bred
Residents of Polesie in Belarus express concern due to an increase in the number of wolves in the Pripyat region. Wild animals form large packs and create real "wolf trails" along the river, which they regularly use to move around. Such routes are even seen by people living near the forest, writes Fishing.by.

Encounters between wolves and humans in this region happen quite often. Sometimes animals enter villages, and unpleasant incidents occur, especially if they are individuals infected with rabies. However, in most situations, ordinary forest wolves still try to avoid people and bypass settlements.
A special situation has developed due to the harsh winter of 2026. A significant amount of snow has made wolves less cautious and more frequently move along well-trodden paths. Therefore, they have been seen more often near people and villages.
In the video, filmed near the village of Bereztsy in the Pinsk district, one such wolf trail is clearly visible. The author of the video notes the large number of wolves in these places and jokingly suggests coming to them for fishing, bringing more meat.
In Belarus, the number of wolves is usually controlled through drive hunts, but this season their conduct was difficult due to the large amount of snow. This complicated population regulation. However, there have been very few truly dangerous incidents for people related to wolves in recent years. If they do occur, it is usually when the animals are sick.
