US Ambassador: China could stop the war in Ukraine with one call
US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that China provides decisive support to Russian aggression in Ukraine. He believes that Beijing could end the war with a single phone call to Moscow, writes Bloomberg.

“China could call Vladimir Putin and end this war tomorrow, and stop selling him dual-use technologies,” Whitaker said during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference.
He added that Beijing could stop buying Russian oil and gas, emphasizing that this war is “fully supported by China.”
Bloomberg also notes that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Beijing and Moscow have further strengthened their partnership. In particular, Russia depends on China for the supply of critically important parts and components for drones and other military equipment.
China has also once again become the largest buyer of Russian crude oil, despite increased international pressure on the oil trade, which is critical for Moscow.
According to tracking data, 1.65 million barrels of oil per day were shipped to Chinese ports in January. This is the highest figure since March 2024 and the second-largest monthly volume since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
