The child was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect — an interrupted aortic arch and a ventricular septal defect. A particular challenge was that the infant's weight was only about 2.5 kilograms.
According to Drozdovsky, in global practice, similar cases are usually operated on in two stages. However, Belarusian doctors managed to perform the correction in a single operation. This allowed them to immediately eliminate the critical circulatory disorder and not postpone treatment.
The operation was successful, and the child is now feeling well. Medical assistance was provided free of charge as part of emergency treatment.
