Inside, large-scale construction work is now underway: jackhammers are at work, concrete mixers, dump trucks, and other equipment are entering the yard. Builders began with extensive dismantling, Minskstroy reports.

In Block A, which faces Nezavisimosti Avenue, workers have already dismantled internal partitions, removed old ceilings and concrete floors, dismantled communications, and cleared plaster from the walls. Now, they are reinforcing structures and erecting new partitions there. Brick walls will be further strengthened with a special technology — shotcreting.

Work on replacing the roof covering is almost complete. The shape of the roof was deliberately preserved to keep the building's exterior unchanged.

Many other elements of the historic building were also decided to be left unchanged.

"The project envisages the restoration of the facade (while preserving the external appearance of the building). The spatial and planning structure of the interiors will also remain unchanged," noted Nikita Kovalenya, master of construction management No. 199.

This means that the building will retain its galleries, the main marble lobby, historical windows, and entrance groups with polished oak doors.

Full-scale modernization of the engineering part is currently underway in the building. Electricians are working on the site; plumbers will join them soon, and then plasterers will begin their work.

According to Nikita Kovalenya, the renovation is being carried out with scientific supervision and involves a complete renewal of the building's internal elements.

Specifically, partitions, engineering networks, doors, floor coverings, ceilings, elevators, and elevator shafts will be replaced. The assembly hall, library, reading rooms, classrooms, scientific laboratories, the BSU museum, and the canteen will also be updated.

After the renovation is complete, new furniture and modern equipment will be installed in the building.
