"I've never been against a person's free choice." Lukashenka softened his stance on minibuses
Speaking at the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, Alexander Lukashenka once again addressed the problem of passenger transportation within Belarus.

It is clear that Lukashenka was informed about the not-so-positive public reaction to his earlier ideas regarding replacing minibuses with regular buses, as he noted: "I want those who TikTok in these TikToks to hear me."
"I have never been against a person's free choice of how to move around. But when people are queuing, and citizens appeal to me, I could not ignore it. We immediately produced many buses, electric buses, running on gas-motor fuel, internal combustion engines, and launched them on routes. Choose!", — stated Lukashenka, stepping back from his previous position, which was sharply directed against minibuses as such.
He also addressed the problem of the quality of domestic buses, about which complaints are regularly received from foreign, primarily Russian, consumers:
"Even if the products are one or two percent more expensive — MAZs, BELAZs, MTZs, and so on. But it must be a quality product! You see what kind of competition is going on. In the media every time: a MAZ bus caught fire there, or it was set on fire somewhere else. We start investigating, and nothing was burning. This is competition. They are simply trying to bend us this way and show that our products are of poor quality. But there are also questions about our quality. There must be no such questions!"
