BelTA, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), reported on the death of seven people in various parts of Belarus due to fires on January 26.

The first tragic reports began to arrive overnight. Around 4:40 AM on January 26, rescuers were informed of a fire in a residential building on Bykhauskaya Street in Gomel. On site, the deceased grandmother of the homeowner, born in 1935, was found.
Around six in the morning, a fire occurred in an apartment on the fifth floor of a five-story building on Zheni Gurankovaya Street in Pinsk. The owner of the apartment, born in 1953, died in the fire.
At noon, a fatal fire occurred in a residential building in the village of Strelki, Verkhnyadzvinsk district. The deceased owner of the house, born in 1962, was found there.
Just half an hour later, fire statistics were supplemented by another tragedy — in the village of Rayovka, Maladzyechna district. In the house, the deceased son of the owner, born in 1960, was found.
Closer to nine in the evening, a fire was reported in a residential building in the agro-town of Gozha, Grodno district, where a husband and wife — pensioners born in 1956 and 1957 — died.
Another emergency occurred around 9:00 PM in Kobryn on Lenin Street. In the yard of a two-apartment residential building, a deceased man, born in 1964, was found during the fire.
The causes of the fires are being investigated for all incidents.
