In Stolin District, a resident of Mankaichy village, along with his two daughters, sculpted a giant snowman. Its height exceeds 4 meters. Leanid Filanovich told BelTA how long such work took.
This is not the first experience for the villager in sculpting a large snowman. This year, more snow fell, and Leanid decided to make the sculpture even bigger.
"I always take on it when the snow is sculptable, when it's warm. I check the weather forecast for upcoming frosts. I don't want it to melt quickly, because it's a lot of work. It's hard to sculpt, a lot of snow is needed," the man explained.
The father and his two daughters, Milana and Liyana, started working around nine in the evening on January 27.
When the girls went to rest, the man continued to work on his own and finished closer to four in the morning on January 28.
"The first ball turned out to be about 2 meters. Plus two more balls on top. The snowman will be about 4.5 meters," the resident of Mankaichy estimated. "I rolled the ball as far as I could. I left it where I decided to place the snowman. Then I made more balls, connected them, rounded them. For the last one, I carried snowballs up a ladder and connected them at the top."
According to Leanid, at that moment he felt joy, just like in childhood.
Within 24 hours, the giant snowman attracted increased attention. News about it spread far beyond Mankaichy. "In previous years, I made snowmen in my garden. People asked to come in to look and take pictures. This time I decided to sculpt it on the street so that no one would be shy and all who wished could take photos," the man said.
This is not the final version yet: Leanid plans to refine the facial features of the snow giant.
