The body of Vladislav Baumgertner, former head of Uralkali, was found in Cyprus. This was confirmed by local police.

Earlier, the media reported that the former head of Uralkali was found dead in Cyprus. The police stated that examinations were needed to identify the person. Now the result is known.
The causes of death are unknown.
Many years ago, Baumgertner was connected to Belarus by one episode of his biography. When he flew to Belarus in 2013 at the invitation of then-Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich, he was arrested. He was held in the KGB pre-trial detention center.
His arrest was preceded by the Belarusian-Russian potash conflict, which began after Uralkali announced the cessation of sales through the joint Belarusian-Russian CJSC "Belarusian Potash Company". Both Uralkali and the state enterprise Belaruskali conducted sales through this trader. At the same time, both sides accused each other of uncoordinated sales bypassing BPC.
Initially, Baumgertner was accused of abuse of power and official authority; then the accusation was supplemented with theft. After that, the businessman was deported to Russia, where a criminal case was also initiated against him. Later, the case was closed "due to the absence of corpus delicti in his actions."
In 2015-2017, Baumgertner served as the CEO of the port company Global Ports. Afterwards, he headed the Swiss company Alevo.
