Emmanuel Bonne, diplomatic adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron, visited Moscow on February 3 for talks with Russian officials, including presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, as Europe prepares for more active participation in the negotiation process. Reuters reports this, citing sources. L'Express was the first to write about the French diplomat's "covert" trip.
According to the interlocutors, the purpose of the trip was to convince the Russian side that Europeans must participate in any decisions concerning European security, and that they would not "just sign any agreements" to end the conflict in Ukraine. Discussions may resume in the near future.
