In St. Petersburg, Alexey Dudarov, chief researcher at one of Rospotrebnadzor's scientific centers, was arrested until March 13 in a treason case, according to Dozhd (TV Rain), citing Perviy Otdel.
The scientist's son told human rights defenders that his father was engaged exclusively in scientific activity and had no access to information constituting state secrets.
According to the investigation, security forces drew attention to Dudarov's publications in scientific journals of the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP), in which he was a co-author. They believe that data from these studies could have been used by Norwegian intelligence.
Alexey Dudarov is a Doctor of Medical Sciences and chief researcher at the FBUN "North-Western Scientific Center for Hygiene and Public Health" of Rospotrebnadzor.
Security forces detained him on January 14 on his way to work and searched his apartment. Afterward, he was taken to a pre-trial detention center and charged with treason. Dudarov does not admit his guilt, human rights defenders report.
