In Zlobin district, a man died after slipping in the forest and impaling himself on a branch

A tragedy occurred in the Zlobin district at the end of August during a mushroom picking trip. Two brothers went into the forest and at a certain point separated. Soon, one of them heard a scream, ran towards it, and saw his brother lying on the grass with a deep wound on his neck. Despite attempts to provide aid, the man died before the medics arrived, writes «Gomelskaya Pravda».

Initially, emergency doctors did not rule out the possibility of a crime – the wound on the lower part of the neck resembled a knife stab. However, experts from the Zlobin Interdistrict Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee concluded that it was, after all, an accident.

An examination of the scene showed that the ground was covered with a scattered layer of leaves. Nearby, a broken piece of dry wood with brown traces was sticking out. Small fragments of wood were extracted from the deceased's wound, which perfectly matched the branch in the forest.

It was also found that the man was intoxicated, which likely led to carelessness and loss of balance.

As a result, the Investigative Committee officially recognized the mushroom picker's death as an accident: the man simply stumbled, fell, and landed on a sharp branch.
