The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the International Academy of Engineering and AAT Zavod Hornaha Vosku (Mountain Wax Plant) presented the technology of electroforming of nano-threads of biopolymer chitosan. The technology is planned to be used to produce bandaging materials, BelTA informs.
Chitosan is the natural substance that activates metabolism and enhances healing of wounds, etc. Chitosan's properties allow it to rapidly clot blood, stop bleeding and to reduce blood loss. Chitosan medical products are actively used by the US and UK armies.
Belarus may establish the production of chitosan bandages. However, it is too early to say about product launch before the medical testing is not held.
