Nuclear waste dump for BelNPP waste could be built in Gomel region
The selection of a site for the construction of a waste storage facility for the Belarusian NPP continues in Belarus. Previously, three options were reported to be under consideration: the territory near the BelNPP in Ostrovets, the territory of the Mogilev region, and also the Polessye State Radiation-Ecological Reserve.

Novasyolki village
It became known which location is being considered for a nuclear waste dump in the Gomel region. However, it concerns the village of Novasyolki in the Khoiniki district, which is not part of the Polessye State Radiation-Ecological Reserve but is located near its border. The village is situated just 7 kilometers from Khoiniki.
Information about the exact location of the potential construction of a temporary storage and disposal facility for radioactive waste was found by "Flagstock" in the Khoiniki district executive committee newspaper "Khoiniki News" — in a report on public discussion titled "A Question of Strategic Importance — For a Safe Future".
Citizens were informed that the first stage of construction of the radioactive waste storage and processing facility will be implemented by 2030, "which means the start of these works is a matter of one to two years."
"Overall, it cannot be said that we have definitively determined the boundaries, plots, and sites. This is very meticulous work, designed for a long time," said Dmitry Logvin.

Location on the map
The head of the enterprise promised to take into account people's opinions and "suggested that those present seriously consider before making such an important decision — and he himself promised to return to discuss it in more detail and substantively."
Previously, it was officially reported that the approximate area required for this activity is 1 sq. km.
