What you need so that your New Year's garland doesn't catch fire
Garlands are one of the most popular ways to create an atmosphere of New Year's magic and coziness.

However, it is necessary to follow the rules so that the electric garland does not become a source of fire. Senior expert of the Department of Special Expertise of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations for the Mogilev region, Anton Skvartsov, explains:
— First of all, you need to decide where you plan to use the garland: indoors or outdoors. Any models are suitable for indoor use, but for outdoor use, you should choose garlands with moisture protection and resistance to low temperatures.
Pay attention to the "IP" marking, which indicates the degree of protection: the higher the numbers, the more reliable the product.
For an outdoor garland, the minimum degree of protection is provided with the "IP63" marking.
Proper operation of the garland will help extend its service life and maintain safety, so:
— use only certified products;
— do not overload the circuit: if the garland is connected to other garlands, monitor the maximum load on the electrical network;
— avoid stretching wires: this can lead to insulation damage and short circuits;
— after the holidays, carefully put the garlands into boxes, avoiding kinks in the wires;
— before use, check the garland for damage;
— monitor the reliability of the outdoor garland's fastening: gusts of wind or snow falling from the roof can damage it.
