In Norway, the transfer of the Nobel Peace Medal to Trump was called a "disgrace"
The action of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who handed her Nobel Peace Medal to the US President, caused criticism. In Oslo, they were quick to assure that this does not mean Donald Trump is now a laureate of the award, reports DW Belarus.

"After the announcement of the Nobel Prize, it cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred to others. This decision is final and valid forever. The medal can change owners, but the title of Nobel Peace Prize laureate cannot," stated the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo. This is a museum dedicated to the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Norwegian tabloid Verdens Gang wrote that Trump "will not become a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, even if he walks around with a gold medal around his neck every day."
"This is a complete disregard for the award on her part. And it is a meaningless act, as the award cannot simply be transferred," stated Janne Haaland Matlary, a political scientist and professor at the University of Oslo. She previously worked at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Norwegian political scientist Benedicte Bull called Machado's action "striking, sad, and overtly demeaning."
"This is incredibly shameful and harms one of the most famous and important global awards. Awarding the prize is now so politicized and potentially dangerous that it could easily legitimize the creation of an anti-peace prize. It's incredible that she actually gave the award to Trump," wrote former Oslo mayor Raymond Johansen on Facebook.
