“She has been sentenced to six years in prison for assembly and conspiracy, to one and a half years for propaganda, and to a two-year ban on leaving the country,” said Mostafa Nili, the lawyer for the Iranian human rights defender.
Additionally, Mohammadi was sentenced to another two years of internal exile in the city of Khosf, located approximately 740 kilometers southeast of Tehran.
Mohammadi, who was arrested in December during a protest demonstration, has been on hunger strike since February 2.
Over her years of human rights activism, Narges has been arrested 13 times and sentenced to imprisonment five times. In January 2022, Mohammadi was sentenced to eight years in prison for “propaganda against the state” and espionage on behalf of Saudi Arabia. In 2023, Mohammadi became a Nobel laureate, awarded for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran, and for advocating for human rights and freedoms for all.
In December 2024, Mohammadi received temporary release for medical reasons.
