Lukashenka Categorically Condemns "Act of American Aggression Against Venezuela"
Natalya Eismant, in a comment to the Kremlin agency "RIA Novosti," spoke about her boss's reaction to the events in Caracas.
"The President of Belarus CATEGORICALLY condemns the act of American aggression against Venezuela. Alexander Lukashenka spoke about the consequences very recently in an interview specifically with American journalists. In particular, he spoke about it being a second Vietnam. And Americans don't need it," — this is the text of the comment stated by Lukashenka's press secretary.
In an interview with the American TV channel Newsmax in mid-December, the Belarusian leader called on the USA and Venezuela for peaceful negotiations and predicted that an invasion of the Latin American country would become a "second Vietnam" for Americans. Lukashenka also reportedly intended to discuss the situation in Venezuela personally with Trump.
"Maduro is not the kind of person who will abandon everything and leave, run away. He is a strong man. He is a 'Chavista'. He is like Chavez. He is a strong, decent, intelligent man with whom one can talk and negotiate," — Lukashenka stated then.
